Membership in the Hereditary Order of the Red Dragon is by invitation to apply and is extended to individuals who can demonstrate verified lineal descent consistent with the historic and genealogical standards of the Order.
Eligibility is based upon documented ancestry in one of the following categories:
Applicants may be eligible if they are descended from the ancient Welsh Kings and Princes of the historic Welsh kingdoms, including:
Such descent must predate December 11, 1282, the date of the death of Llywelyn ap Gruffydd, also known as Llywelyn the Last, the final native Prince of Wales.
Applicants may also be eligible if they are descended from a verified Welsh immigrant to America who arrived prior to July 4, 1776.
This category recognizes Welsh men and women whose migration contributed to the early foundations of the American colonies.
All claims of eligibility are subject to genealogical review and verification in accordance with the Constitution and Bylaws of the Order. Applicants must provide sufficient documentation to substantiate their lineage.
